The intern reports to the Human Rights Officer in the designated work unit from Geneva, Switzerland, and works under the general supervision of the Chief of Section. The internship assignment shall be for a minimum of three (3) months, with the possibility of extension for a total of six (6) months, subject to further supervisor approval, with an anticipated start date in the first quarter of the following year.

The Office of the United Nations (UN) High Commissioner for Human Rights (OHCHR) is the Secretariat Department in charge of enhancing international human rights mechanisms, combating impunity, strengthening accountability and the rule of law, integrating human rights in development and the economy, expanding the democratic space, and providing early warning and protection of human rights in times of conflict. Work Experience Languages:

  • English and French are the working languages of the United Nations Secretariat. For this internship, fluency in English is required. Knowledge of Arabic would be an advantage.
