Scholarship Grant Program for 2023-Michigan State University’s Miriam J. Kelley-African

Michigan State University’s Office for International Students and Scholars is delighted to provide the Miriam J. Kelley African Scholarship Grant Program to outstanding students interested in pursuing a degree program at the University.

The scholarship aims to encourage African students, especially women, to study at MSU and contribute to the development of their home country. The Miriam J. Kelley African Scholarship Grant Program is sponsored by the program of the same name and is worth up to $1,000. Several awards will be granted to African undergraduates and postgraduates.

The Miriam J. Kelley African Scholarship Grant Program will grant at least two awards each year, up to $1,000 each. The number of awards and their amounts will depend on the quality of the proposals received and the available resources during the fiscal year.

Applicants may request support for tuition, research expenses, or dissertation writing. Personal, education-related, or family expenses will also be considered. Proposals requesting partial support to attend a professional conference will also be considered.

To be eligible for the Miriam J. Kelley African Scholarship Grant Program, applicants must meet the following criteria: be African nationals, MSU African students in good academic standing (with emphasis on women’s educational advancement), temporary visa holders, and demonstrate their commitment to returning to their home country.

Applicants must also have demonstrated the capacity to achieve their educational goals and be proactive in seeking further opportunities to advance their education. Applications, consisting of a narrative and two supporting letters, should be sent to the Office for International Students and Scholars, 103 International Centre, by the deadline of July 15, 2023.
